Gordon Gekko had a point. One of the many things I love about my friends is that they’re all greedy buggers, in the best possible sense of the word. They’re a passionate, curious, creative bunch, quick-witted and quick to laugh. Generous of spirit, bursting with energy and ideas and eager for new experiences, they’ve all fuelled my own hunger.
This picture was taken at the Hinds Head in Bray (which, incidentally, Michelin named pub of the year just this week). Earlier that day five of us had treated ourselves to lunch at the feted Fat Duck. Exceptional, exquisite, extravagant – all 13 courses were pure delight. We were high on pleasure and whimsy, grinning like loons. And we didn’t want it to stop. So after a stroll to stretch our legs, we tumbled into the pub around the corner to check out what Heston Blumenthal was offering at the other end of the gastronomic spectrum.
See? Greedy. But it also reminds me that sharing a meal with the people you love is just the best.
